Alpha — Quine Linux is early and changes often. Try it in a VM or on a spare machine, not on one with data you need.

Installing from the live ISO

  1. 1

Write it to a USB stick

With Fedora Media Writer (“Select .iso file”), or sudo dd if=quine-linux-…-live-x86_64.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=4M status=progress. This erases the stick.

  2. 2

    Boot from it

UEFI only. Choose the USB stick in your computer's boot menu; you get a live Quine Linux desktop.

  3. 3

    Install to Hard Drive

On the desktop. The installer erases the disk you choose. You don't set up a user here.

  4. 4

    First boot

With Secure Boot on, a blue “MOK management” screen asks to enroll a key: choose Enroll MOK and type universalblue. Then Quine Linux asks you to create your user.

  5. 5

    Updates

New versions download in the background each night and apply on restart; the start menu says when one is ready.
